India's Srao 10th at shooting World Cup

Sydney, April 27 - India's Harveen Srao finished 10th in the women's 10 metre air pistol event of the shooting World Cup here Friday.

Harveen shot 381 points, with a series of 91, 96, 97 and 97, missed the finals by two points, according to information received here.

Sonia Rai, the other Indian in the event, finished 30th with a total of 377 - while her compatriot Annu Raj Singh finished 42nd with 374 - in a field of 54 contestants, said indianshooting.com in a statement.

Hu Jun of China won the gold with a tally of 490.4 points - 387 in qualification and 103.4 in the finals - while Ren Jie of China clinched the silver with 489.7 points -.

Jasna Sekaric of Serbia won the bronze with 484.5 points -.

Miroslawa Sagun of Poland, who finished fourth with a score of 483 -, won the Olympic quota place in this event.

In the men's 10m air rifle, India's P.T Raghunath finished 13th with a score of 594. He had a shaky start, with his first series being 96 but he shot well to register three perfect consecutive series of 100s in his third, fourth and fifth series.

He shot 99 in the second and last series for a sequence of 96, 99, 100, 100, 100 and 99.

Abhinav Bindra, who is competing after nine months due to a back problem, finished 30th with 591 in this event.

Bindra too had a shaky start and shot well later. He shot a series of 95, 99, 100, 99, 99 and 99 while Gagan Narang, the third Indian male shooter in the event, finished 33rd with 590 -.

Lin Yun of China won the gold medal with 701.6 -, Knoegler Mario of Austria the silver with 700.1 - and Sidi Peter of Hungary the bronze with 699.6 -.

In all, 70 shooters took part in this event.
