Red alert in Bangladesh amid militant threats

[RxPG] Dhaka, March 31 - Security forces in Bangladesh were on a state of red alert for the second consecutive day Saturday in the wake of threats of revenge attacks by suspected Islamic fanatics, officials said.
Police rounded up 36 members of the banned Islamic militant group Jamiatul Mujahideen since the organization's top brass were executed in separate prisons in the small hours of Friday.
About 8,000 special forces were deployed at the airport, train stations, bus terminals and other strategic points which are possible targets of terror attacks by the militants for the execution of six prominent leaders.
Confirming the execution of the militants, Inspector General of Prisons Zakir Hasan said security was upgraded in the four towns where the six had been hanged.
The mujahideens who were put on trial and convicted for masterminding the suicide bomb attack on judges Sohail Ahmed and Jagannath Pandey includes Shaekh Abdur Rahman, the founder of the outlawed militant group.
The two district judges were travelling in a minibus when a bomb hit them in November 2005 tied to the body of a militant.
