New Delhi, April 27 - At least three Indian Institutes of Management - Friday released their delayed first admission list, hours after Human Resource Development - Minister Arjun Singh directed the elite institutions to do so like in previous years.

Another list with increased seats for Other Backward Classes will be made public after the Supreme Court resolves the quota issue.

'As soon as we received a formal communication from the HRD ministry, we released the admission list,' said S.P. Parashar, director of IIM-Indore.

'We have released a list of 676 candidates for our 180 seats. All the seats will be filled on first-come-first-served basis,' Parashar told IANS from Indore.

The premier IIM-Ahmedabad, and the oldest, also released its list for the general category, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates -.

HRD Minister Arjun Singh Friday afternoon formally issued a directive to all central government funded higher educational institutes, including the six IIMs, to release the lists for general category and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe aspirants.

'We are issuing the communication right now and they can go ahead with the admission process. Increased seats with OBC quota can be accommodated after May 8,' Singh told reporters.

Ashok Shah, chief communication officer of IIM-A, said: 'We released the first list as per the 2006 status. I don't think there will be a second list for these candidates as all the selected candidates will take admission.'

'If the Supreme Court resolves the quota issue, then we would put out a list for these - candidates after May 8,' he added.

Shah said IIM-A is pleased to announce admission offers for 250 seats -.

'Against 250 seats, a total of 239 offers are being made to candidates belonging to general, SC, ST categories. The last date of acceptance of these offers is May 14, 2007. The candidates being offered admission are required to submit their acceptance on or before May 14. In addition to 239 firm offers, another 52 candidates have been put on the waiting list in ranked order,' he added.

IIM-Bangalore director Prakash Apte said they too have released a list for 330 candidates for 240 seats. There are six IIMs in the country.

The admission process at the six IIMs had been delayed after the Supreme Court on March 29 stayed a law reserving 27 percent seats for OBCs in all centrally funded institutions of higher learning. The apex court will hear the government's plea against the stay on May 8.

On Thursday, the United Progressive Alliance - and the Left parties agreed on Singh's two-admission list proposal.

'It was decided to allow the IIMs to complete their admission process for the general, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories as in preceding years,' Communist Party of India - leader D. Raja had said Thursday night.

'As far as the OBC quota is concerned, it has been agreed to wait till May 8. If the quota issue is nor resolved by the court, then there was a view that it should be taken up by parliament,' Raja had added.
