New Delhi, April 30 - The Pearl School of Business, which has many overseas institutions as associates, including Britain's Nottingham Trent University and Boston's Babson College, Monday said it will offer a doctoral degree in business administration in India.

The business school has entered into a pact with Thailand's Asian Institute of Technology - for the programme, which would be offered from the academic session beginning July this year, officials said.

'The three-year course designed specially for managers and entrepreneurs fulfils critical and growing need-gap. With AIT as our partner, it will be recognised worldwide,' Pearl School chairman Deepak Seth told a press conference here.

'India is fast emerging as a global talent pool. But unless we look forward and enlarge and strengthen this, it will be inadequate to meet the requirements of tomorrow,' added Said Irandoust, president of AIT.

'The Pearl School of Business fits extremely well with our philosophy to promote entrepreneurial talent in Asia and creating globally competitive enterprises,' Irandoust added.

Founded in 1959 in Bangkok, AIT offers advanced courses in engineering, science and technology, besides management, and runs them in countries like Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Thailand, with the faculty drawn from Europe and Asia.

The $350 million House of Pearl, which has units in India, China, Indonesia and Bangladesh in the fashion and apparel business, has promoted the Pearl School of Business with a campus in Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi.

The group has also been running a fashion academy by the same name since 1993 in the national capital.
