Rajasekhara Reddy accorded warm welcome in Chicago

Hyderabad, May 7 - The mayor of Chicago and members of the Indian diaspora were among those who accorded a warm welcome to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Sunday when he arrived on a four-day visit to the US.

A statement from the chief minister's office here said he and his delegation were received by associations of Indian Americans hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

Among them were outgoing president of the American Telugu Association -, Gavva Chandra Reddy, newly elected President of ATA, Jitendra Reddy, representatives of the Telugu Association of North America -, and All India NRIs Association President Mohammed Sharif.

Earlier, city mayor Richard Daley and his assembly passed a resolution welcoming Rajasekhara Reddy.

The chief minister will attend a dinner hosted by the Gulbarga Doctors Association at St. Louis in the US state of Missouri Monday. The next day, he will address the World Agriculture Congress-2007 at the same place and highlight his government's initiatives to give a boost to agriculture.

The chief minister will participate in the programmes organised by TANA and other NRI associations in Chicago and St. Louis.

On May 9, he will attend the Indus Entrepreneurs meet on IT, semiconductors and fab manufacturing in San Francisco and interact with CEOs of IT and semiconductor companies.

The chief minister is accompanied by Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy, Minister for Major Industries J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for IT E. Damodar Reddy and other top officials, besides his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

He will return home after participating in investment and infrastructure programmes in Singapore.
