Sahara's new initiative for Indian diaspora

New Delhi, Feb 22 - Business conglomerate Sahara India Group Thursday launched a new online initiative to offer non-resident Indians - services such as medical assistance, money transfers, bill payments, income tax return and even delivering fresh flowers and gifts to their dear ones in India.

The new company offering these services - Sahara Care House - will act as a single window platform for the NRIs enabling one-point easy access for over 60 support and care services for themselves and their families in India.

India today has the third largest diaspora with over 25 million people of Indian origin spread across 70 countries.

'By introducing this personalised service, we will ensure that the needs of this community will be taken care of anytime, any day, anywhere, easing their emotional and psychological worries about their families who may be located in any part of India,' Romi Datta, chief executive of Sahara Care House and international business of Sahara India told a press conference here.

'Sahara Care House is spread across 197 Indian cities and is manned by 3,500 relationship ambassadors,' he added.

The service has already been launched in Britain, which is home to 1.2 million people of Indian origin and also in South East Asia.

According to the company officials, the subscription-funded business is expected to attract over 18,000 in the first financial year and a turnover of $150-$160 million within three years.

The company has tied up with over 2,020 hospitals in India to provide a wide range of healthcare services along with 24x7 medical assistance in case of emergency.

Sahara India Pariwar has an asset base of over $10.87 billion and a workforce of over 910,000 with diversified business interests that include infrastructure and housing, media and entertainment, aviation, consumer products and housing finance.

It has consumer base of almost 90 million and 1,707 establishments across India.
