New Delhi, March 5 - India will promote spiritual pilgrimage and Bollywood tourism in Fiji, where Indian origin people constitute almost half the population.

Tourism Minister Ambika Soni, who had a 40-minute meeting with Fiji's Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau here, said the India Tourism office in Sydney had begun promotional works in that country.

'The India Tourism office has started promotional activities after the improvement of the political and economic situation in Fiji by launching a 'Discover Your Roots' programme,' said an official release from Soni's ministry.

'Pilgrimage and Bollywood are other attractions, which are being marketed and promoted in Fiji,' the release said.

Both countries signed an agreement for tourism cooperation during the Fijian prime minister's visit to India in October 2005.

During discussions with the Fiji minister, Soni explained the process of electoral reforms in India and the proposed Women's Reservation Bill - to provide 33 percent reservation for women in parliament and legislative assemblies.
