ICSE, ISC results out, girls outshine boys

New Delhi, May 19 - The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination - Saturday declared Class 10 - and Class 12 - examination results, with girls outshining boys.

While 97.96 percent of candidates appearing for the Class 10 exams were successful, the pass percentage for Class 12 was 96.96 percent, Sangita Bhatia, assistant secretary of CISCE, told IANS.

A total of 97,303 students including 42,749 girls had appeared for the Class 10 examinations. A total of 45,293 candidates including 19,918 girls had taken the Class 12 examinations. A total of 285 foreign students had sat for the examinations in the two classes.

'In the ICSE examination girls have done better with a pass percentage of 98.53 percent as against 97.51 percent in case of boys. Similarly in the ISC examination, 98.24 percent of girls have qualified as against 95.95 percent boys,' Bhatia said.

She said while Class 10 results have improved by 1.96 percent point in comparison to the previous year, in Class 12, 3.43 percent more students qualified the exam as against last year's result.

In Class 10, 852 boys have failed the examinations as against a meagre 359 girls. Likewise, 562 male candidates were unsuccessful compared to 192 female candidates in Class 12.

While a boy topped the ICSE examination with 98.4 percent marks, a girl topped the ISC examination with 98.75 percent marks.

While 1,329 Class 10 students secured Grade I in each of the seven subjects, 111 Class 12 students secured the top grade in each of the six subjects.
