Car bomb kills 40 in Karbala

[RxPG] Baghdad, April 14 - At least 40 people were killed and dozens wounded as a car bomb went off Saturday in the holy Shia city of Karbala, some 100 km south of Baghdad, al-Jazeera television reported.
Iraqi local television al-Rafidein also reported that 40 people were killed.
Earlier, Iraqi state-run television al-Iraqiya reported that a bomb-rigged car parking in a parking lot near the holy shrine of Imam al-Hussein in Karbala detonated in the morning.
Many shops and restaurants are near the parking lot, the TV said.

Violence continues in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities despite the presence of tens of thousands of US and Iraqi soldiers across the country in a major security crackdown to curb insurgency and sectarian violence in the war-torn country.
