Indian matrimonial portal eyes Middle East expansion

Dubai, April 30 - Popular Indian matrimonial portal Shaadi.com is all set to enter the Gulf Cooperation Council - states due to a surge in demand for their services in the United Arab Emirates -.

Anupam Mittal, creator of Shaadi.Com, said Dubai would soon become the headquarters for its operations in Africa, the Asia Pacific region and Pakistan, the Khaleej Times reported.

According to 2001 data, there are 3.5 million Indians living in the six Gulf countries - UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.

'Our market in the UAE has increased over the past few years. The growth has been tremendous. Now we would be using our base in Dubai to strengthen our upcoming markets in Africa, the entire Middle East, Asia Pacific and South Asia. What is really encouraging is that the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh are also using Shaadi.Com,' Mittal said.

He added that his portal would soon enter the Pakistani market also.
