Japan Saudi Arabia to develop economic ties

[RxPG] Riyadh, April 29 - Japan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to make joint efforts to develop mutual economic ties.
During a meeting between Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz and visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Saturday, the two nations agreed that the 'further development of economic relations is a main driving force toward the development of strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan,' a joint statement issued by the two leaders said.
Saudi Arabia is Abe's first stop of his five-nation Middle East trip, which will also take him to Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier in the day at an economic forum attended by more than 100 Saudi businessmen and a 180-strong business delegation from Japan, Abe said he wanted to 'open a new era of relations between Japan and the Middle East.'
Japan is willing to participate in the fast-growing economic construction in Saudi Arabia, Japan's important trading partner, said Abe at the forum.
He also hoped that the two countries would boost their cooperation in the fields of energy, communications, mining and machinery manufacture.
