By Xinhua,
[RxPG] Gaza, April 21 - Unidentified gunmen in a predawn swoop stormed the American International School in northern Gaza Strip Saturday and bombed parts of the school, Palestinian security sources said.
They said that the assailants handcuffed the school's guards and detonated the explosive devices after breaking into the building.
The explosions, which took place at 4:00 a.m., caused fire that gutted Gaza's only international school, which was opened in the 1999.
There has been no claim of responsibility over the attack that comes a week after militants bombed a Bible society building in the Gaza Strip.
Last January, a similar explosion rocked al-Waha tourist resort that lies a few hundred meters away from the American school.
A wave of bombings against recreational places in Gaza has increased dramatically since late 2006 when the first such bombing attack occurred.
An unknown group, calling itself Swords of Islamic Righteousness, has claimed responsibility for the first two bombings that targeted Internet cafes.
