By Prensa Latina,
[RxPG] Geneva, April 12 - The International Red Cross Committee - has denounced the increase of insecurity and suffering of civilians in Iraq, where thousands of families, chiefly women and children, have left their homes to escape violence.
In the document entitled 'Iraq, an ever Worsening Crisis', released Wednesday, the ICRC warns of the deteriorating situation in the war torn country and says that apart from the lack of security and poor medical care, the Iraqi people suffer from a shortage of food and water.
Multiple daily casualties keep the hospitals busy and medical staffs under strong pressure, the report says.
The text also alerts that the large military operation in Iraq is worsening the situation instead of alleviating it.
In a statement to press, the head of the IRCC operations, Pierre Krahenbuhl, spoke about the decline of the humanitarian situation and its negative impact on the health system.
In spite of admitting the large number of dead reported in Iraq daily, the ICRC official refrained from confirming death toll figures.
