[RxPG] Tel Aviv, April 22 - Israeli soldiers Sunday killed two Palestinians in the city of Nablus in the West Bank, Israeli media reported.

The two men were shot during an Israeli military operation. An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed that an operation was taking place in the city.

The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli military operations in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip over the weekend rose to eight - the highest number of dead since the beginning of January, Israeli media said.

On Saturday, Israeli soldiers had killed five Palestinians in Jenin in the West Bank. Four of them were militants, Palestinians said.

The 17-year-old sister of a wanted activist of the Islamic Jehad was also killed when soldiers tried to arrest him.

Another Palestinian was killed Saturday night in an air raid in the northern Gaza Strip. Palestinian militants had fired missiles into the Israeli borderland earlier.

Following the raids on Jenin, Gaza Strip militant groups who had reduced launches of homemade rockets in recent days from Gaza at Israel vowed to resume the attacks.

Israeli Radio quoted an Israeli army spokesman as saying that six rockets fired from Gaza Strip landed on the southern Israeli town of Sderout and wounded at least six Israelis.

Al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for launching six homemade rockets fired from Gaza Strip.
