Guwahati, Nov 23 - Three people were killed and nine wounded when a bomb went off outside the Guwahati railway station Thursday evening, police said.
The bomb was concealed in a sack and kept in a cycle rickshaw near the railway station's parking lot.
The condition of two injured people is said to be critical.
Police said there were intelligence inputs that either the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom - or 'jihadi' elements would carry out blasts near the railway station.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has said that his government still wants to give peace a chance.
'But for this the ULFA has to respond positively and come forward. Our doors are still open,' he told reporters here minutes before the blast.
The central government Sep 24 called off a six-week ceasefire and resumed military operations blaming the ULFA for stepping up attacks and extortions.
Since then, the ULFA has triggered more nearly 15 explosions, killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 100, besides blowing up oil and gas pipelines.
