Delhi sweep triple gold from tennis

[RxPG] Guwahati, Feb 17 - Delhi bagged three gold medals from tennis on the penultimate day of the 33rd National Games here Saturday.
Divij Sharan won the gold in the men's singles and then teamed up with Ashutosh Singh to win the men's doubles gold as well while Parul Goswami clinched the title in the women's section to complete the tally for Delhi in the Chachal Tennis Complex.
Karnataka won the women's doubles title by defeating Maharashtra.
Sharan defeated West Bengal's Manoj Sewa 6-1, 6-1 to give Delhi its first gold in the day. He along with Singh edged past Kamala Kanan and N. Vijay Sundar Parsnath of Tamil Nadu 7-6, 6-4 in the men's doubles final.
In the women's singles, Parul stunned top seed Sonal Phadke of Maharashtra 7-6, 6-3 to clinch the title.
An experienced Phadke, however, failed to live up to expectations, when she and Krushmi Chedda went down 6-4, 0-6, 2-6 to Karnatak's Archana Venkatraman and Poojashree Venkatesh in the women's doubles final.
