Indo-Australian collaboration to protect cultural heritage

New Delhi, April 2 - AusHeritage and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage -, Australia and India's cultural heritage conservation bodies, signed a memorandum Monday to work closely on various conservation initiatives in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Around 15 Australian heritage management experts have come to India to participate in the AusHeritage-INTACH seminar April 2-4 here. The seminar, called 'Managing and Conserving Cultural Heritage', will focus on sharing heritage conservation and management expertise.
'AusHeritage and INTACH heritage practitioners have a strong history of collaborations as they learn from each other in preserving our valuable past for future generations. The memorandum of understanding signed at the inaugural session today is a result of the close working relationship between the two organizations,' said Vinod Daniel, chairman of AusHeritage.
AusHeritage has taken up various initiatives in India like providing support for developing a new exhibition gallery at the Chhatrapati Shivaji - Museum in Mumbai, organising various workshops on 'Caring of Collection against Disasters and Pests' as well as working closely with several Indian private and government cultural heritage organisations.
The seminar is organised with support from the Australian government through the Australian International Cultural Council - and the Australia-India Council -.
