Inzamam bats for charity hospital

Multan, Nov 23 (IANS) Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has launched a fund-raising campaign for charity hospital Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust (BAMT) here, a newspaper report said Thursday.

Inzamam, who is a member of the governing body of the hospital, was quoted by The News as saying: 'I will donate 10 percent of my fee from each match along with the prizes I will receive in the ground to the hospital.

Inzamam also announced that he would travel throughout the country and even abroad to raise funds for the hospital. He added that he would put his 1992 World Cup winning bat and other cricket-related equipments on auction to raise funds for the hospital.

While addressing a press conference at the under-construction BAMT hospital that was partly operational in the city's suburbs, Inzamam said the whole project would be complete in seven years and will cost around Rs. 1.5 billion.

The Pakistani captain disclosed that his teammates would also auction their bats and other game-related things for the purpose. The BAMT will launch its website soon, Inzamam said.
