Islamabad, Nov 23 - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is to visit Pakistan soon, President Pervez Musharraf said in remarks published Thursday.
Stating that he wanted 'substantive talks' with Manmohan Singh but that would be 'possible when there is a solution to the Siachen and Sir Creek issues and headway in the Kashmir dispute', the president said the Indian leader would be in Pakistan soon.
'We want good relations with India but the existing conflicts are a barrier and it is not possible - without a resolution of the disputes,' The Nation quoted him as telling reporters at the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar --2006 at the Expo Centre in Karachi.
He said he expected some headway towards conflict resolution when he meets Manmohan Singh.
The News quoted him as saying: 'Pakistan and India would have to move forward jointly for close cooperation, confidence-building and dispute resolution.' Cautioning patience, he added: 'Such complicated issues could not be resolved immediately.'
Some progress had been made in the dialogue process, he said, hoping that the two countries would reach at some conclusion.
Daily Times said Manmohan Singh had accepted an invitation by Musharraf to visit Pakistan.
'I am not disappointed as the process is going on in the right direction and hopefully the - will improve in future,' Musharraf said. 'Our endeavours are to attain the result.'
Manmohan Singh has not set a date for his trip to Pakistan.
