New Delhi, Nov 24 - Quebec, Canada's only French-speaking province, is exploring investment possibilities in India and increasing its presence in the country, a visiting minister said Friday.

'We must enhance cooperation and trade relations as India forms a core country for Quebec to concentrate on and we intend to increase our presence here substantially,' Quebec's Economic Development Minister Raymond Bachand told a seminar organised by Confederation of Indian Industry - Friday here.

'I am not satisfied with the quantum of relations we have with India. We share similar economic strategies as we both wish to base our future growth on knowledge and innovation.'

Bachand emphasised the importance of freer trade, mainly in terms of freer movement of people, science, research, and university exchanges with India.

Qubec, famous for its high-tech industries, already has presence in India through its various companies such as CAE, Bombardier, Bell Helicopter and Pratt and Whitney Canada.

These companies are now keen to expand their presence here.

The minister and his delegation Friday concluded their weeklong economic mission to India. It comprised about 60 representatives from private business, academic circles and research groups.

Canada's deputy high commissioner to India Kenneth Macartney also stressed India's growing economy and its advantages of doing business with Quebec.
