[RxPG] Patna, April 22 - A granddaughter-in-law of a senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh - leader in Bihar has filed a case alleging torture and harassment by her husband and in-laws.
Sonali Singh, in her late 30s, lodged the case in the court of a judicial magistrate under the new Domestic Violence Act against 12 people, including her husband.
Sonali is married to a grandson of Krishna Ballabh Singh, popularly known as Babuaji, a top RSS leader.
'I was regularly tortured and threatened by my in-laws' family for having given birth to a girl instead of a son,' Sonali said.
'They have a strong dislike for a girl child,' she said.
'I was being tortured since my marriage 14 years ago, but on April 18 night they crossed all limits by throwing me and my daughter out of the house,' Sonali alleged.
'I was celebrating the birthday of my only daughter that night but they objected to it saying that only the birthday of a son should be celebrated. After an altercation they threw me out of the house late in the night along with my daughter,' she said.
Sonali is currently staying with a relative. 'I will fight for justice,' she said.
