[RxPG] Panchkula, May 15 - A retired major general of the army and his wife were found murdered Tuesday in their house in Panchkula town.
The house, in which Major General K.C. Dhingra and his wife Sangeeta were found brutally murdered, is owned by a senior Haryana police officer currently posted with Chandigarh police.
Police officials entered the house Tuesday evening while trying to trace the owner of a Maruti Esteem car that had met with an accident in Chandigarh, 10 km from here.
The couple, both in their mid-60s, was clubbed to death in their bedroom. The bodies were found lying on the bed. The house had a foul smell when the police team entered it.
The couple was staying in the house alone as tenants of the police officer.
Police officials investigating the crime said that the couple seemed to have been murdered at least four-five days ago.
Police suspect their servant as being behind the crime. Their room was found ransacked and their car was missing.
The same car was involved in an accident in Chandigarh Sunday. The driver of the car had escaped after hitting it with an electric pole and badly damaging it. The driver and two others in the car were drunk at the time of the accident Sunday noon.
Both occupants were let off by police after questioning and getting them medical treatment in a government hospital here.
Police are now looking for both the men and the car driver while forensic experts were examining the scene of the crime.
The couple is survived by two children.
