Fortis plans multi-speciality hospital in Jaipur

Jul 17, 2007 - 5:38:16 PM
It currently has a network of around 12 hospitals, primarily in north India.

[RxPG] Jaipur, July 17 - Fortis Healthcare plans to set up a super speciality hospital in Jaipur as part of its initiative to expand its operations in Rajasthan.

'We have shown our intent in setting up a Medi city in Jaipur to the state government. We want over 25 acres of land for the project that will have a medical college besides a 500-600 bed hospital,' Shivinder Mohan Singh, managing director, Fortis Healthcare Ltd -, said here Tuesday while addressing a press conference.

Fortis has initiated the implementation of the new hospital under the Escorts hospital brand, with specialisation in cardiac care, orthopaedics, neurosciences, renal sciences and gastroenterology.

Though refusing to give a detail on investments in the state, Singh said a 100-bed hospital costs between Rs.1-2 billion while a Medi city can cost anywhere between Rs.5-6 billion.

He added that the healthcare company also plans to set up two or three, 100-bed hospitals in the state as part of its expansion drive.

'We are also keen on entering into a public-private partnership model on healthcare with the state government,' he added.

Based in Delhi, FHL, which acquired Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre Ltd in September 2005, has operations in Delhi, Noida, Mohali -, Amritsar, Faridabad, Raipur and Srinagar.

It currently has a network of around 12 hospitals, primarily in north India.

These hospitals include super-specialty centres providing tertiary and quaternary healthcare to patients in cardiac care, orthopaedics, neurosciences, oncology, renal care and gastroenterology among others.
