MPs to undergo free heart checkups

New Delhi, Oct 17 - Many MPs and employees of parliament will undergo a preventive heart checkup Saturday at a time when Information and Broadcasting Minister P.R. Dasmunsi has been admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre is conducting the medical camp in Parliament House complex - all for free.
'We don't know who all are coming, but all those will come shall under go an echo cardiogram test and other tests like blood sugar, pulse rate. Just for an echo test, we charge Rs. 1,800 but at the camp, it will free,' Anil Chaturvedi, a senior cardiologist with Escorts, told IANS.
'We had told the authorities last month and finally they gave us the Oct 18 date. This is part of our corporate social responsibility programme,' he added.

Dasmunsi, 63, was rushed to the All India Institute of medical Sciences - past midnight Monday after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by a heart attack. He was put on a ventilator but was taken off it Wednesday.
