Bhubaneswar, Nov 26 - The dengue appears to be on a decline in Odisha with only two new cases reported in the state in the last two days, taking the total number of those affected by the disease to 2,196 this year, an official said Monday.

The latest two reported cases are one each from the districts of Ganjam and Kendrapada, a senior official of the state health control room told IANS.

The deaths due to the mosquito−borne disease ion Odisha have, however, remained at six since the last week of October.

Earlier, the government was getting reports of 20−30 positive cases daily from various parts of the state, but the figure has come down to 10−12 in a week, he said.

Balasore district was worst hit by the mosquito−borne disease and reported 554 cases this year, followed by Ganjam with 517 cases.

However, in past several days, there has been no report of any positive case from Balasore, the official said.
