Fortis conducts record 14,161 cholesterol tests on World Heart Day

New Delhi, Sep 29 - Fortis hospitals Saturday created a new Guinness World Record by conducting over 14,000 cholesterol tests in a day across its facilitis in Delhi and the National Capital Region on the occasion of World Heart Day.

A total of 14,161 free tests were conducted on people above the age of 18 years as the hospital set the record for Most blood cholesterol readings in 24 hours.

Guinness World Records representative, Nikhil Shukla, who was present on the occasion, said: I am extremely delighted to announce Fortis Healthcare's achievement for setting the Most Blood Cholesterol Readings in 24 Hours record.

It was the largest ever initiative to beat heart disease. The awareness campaign generated an overwhelming response, Ashok Seth, chairman, cardiac sciences, Fortis Escort Heart Institute told IANS.

High cholesterol runs in families and to create awareness around early detection of high cholesterol is critical. It was heartening to see families turn up in huge numbers following this awareness campaign.

Deranged cholesterol is one of the major causes of heart disease. It is essential for people to monitor and evaluate their cholesterol levels on a regular basis so that onset of heart disease can be prevented or controlled at an early stage.
