The much-loved childhood TV character, the Clanger’s Soup Dragon, is helping to spread the word about the work of the Alzheimer’s Society to a new ‘soup loving’ audience. Cartons of the New Covent Garden Soup Company’s April soup of the month will feature the Alzheimer’s Society’s favourite fundraising mascot, the Clanger’s Soup Dragon and details of how to contact the Society. This innovative idea is a soup-er way to tell people where they can get information and support if they are worried about dementia.
The new limited edition Clangers-inspired Spinach, Pea and Mint soup is available nationwide from 18th April until 15th May. This is the first time that the Alzheimer’s Society has teamed up with a food company to promote their work, and the Society hopes that it will help raise awareness of dementia to a wide audience.
Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer’ Society said, ‘This is a novel way to highlight the work that we do at the Alzheimer’s Society. Over 750,000 people in the UK have dementia. We know that people who need our help often do not know how to get in touch with us. Having our logo on supermarket shelves is a fantastic opportunity to reach those who are worried about their memory or aren’t getting the support they need. It is great that the New Covent Garden Soup Company is helping us to reach these people.'
