[RxPG] Kathmandu, March 19 - When India lost to minnows Bangladesh in the World Cup, the tremors of the shock defeat were felt in far away Nepal with 11 Indians and a Nepali associate arrested for operating a betting racket.
A betting syndicate that is likely to have a wide network was busted here the same night as a stunned punter, who lost a huge sum, tipped off police, a report said Monday.
The tip-off led cops to the Soaltee Crowne Plaza, one of Nepal's oldest and most posh hotels where 11 Indians had checked in to make hay while the World Cup was being played.
A Special Branch team arrested the 11 Indians as well as their Nepali associate, Rajendra Pandey, for running the racket from their expensive hotel rooms.
The Indian punters were identified as Rohit Ansari, Raghubir Agrawal, Shankar Agrawal, D.M. Patel, Ananda Bhai, J.N. Goyal, Sanjay Manjil, Nandakishore Sharma, Sanjay Manjil, Mahesh Thola and Dilip Aswalin, the Himalayan Times said.

For the India-Bangladesh match, the betting syndicate was offering 1-20 odds and the unexpected Indian loss means a major upset in Nepal's betting circles.
