Kathmandu, March 26 - Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will arrive in the Indian capital New Delhi Sunday to attend the 14th summit of the heads of states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation -.

Though the two-day regional meeting will start from April 3, the ailing prime minister, who is recovering from jaundice and respiratory problems, will arrive on April 1 because of health reasons, Koirala's foreign affairs advisor Dr Suresh Chalise told the media Monday.

The Nepal delegation will also include deputy prime minister and foreign minister K.P. Sharma Oli.

This will be Koirala's second trip to New Delhi after assuming office in April 2006.

New Delhi was the Nepali politician's first and only trip abroad officially, put ahead even before a medical trip to Bangkok.

It remains to be seen if Nepal will get a new interim government before Koirala leaves for India.

The seven-party ruling alliance and the Maoists have been locked in negotiations for over a fortnight now over the formation of a new government with no consensus yet over the allocation of key portfolios.

The 14th SAARC Summit will endorse Afghanistan joining the regional bloc as its eighth member.

It will be the first time that the EU, US, China, Japan and Korea will also take part in the meet as observers.
