[RxPG] Karachi, April 27 - Irate lawyers protesting the suspension of the Pakistani chief justice have removed the photograph of Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, senior advisor to President Pervez Musharraf, from the committee room of the Sindh High Court Bar Association -.

The photo was removed after the bar passed a unanimous resolution stating that that Pirzara had 'betrayed the legal community' by representing the government in the case pertaining to Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, who was suspended by Musharraf March 9 after being accused of misusing his office to promote his son.

According to Syed Tauqeer Hasan of SHCBA, who moved the resolution, Pirzada, commonly referred to as a constitutional wizard, had a track record of appearing, defending and serving the cause of 'dictators in uniform'.

The removal of his photograph was 'a token of dislike', Hasan said before a charged crowd of lawyers.

The Daily Times reported Friday: 'Although nobody present had the courage to oppose the decision at that time, later voices of dissent were heard, condemning the indecent manner in which the photograph was removed.'

Pirzada is credited as the author of the 'Doctrine of Necessity' that has in the past justified military takeovers and declarations of martial law.

He was president of SHCBA in 1964 and 1965 after which his membership expired and no application for its renewal was ever filed.

For the last 47 days, lawyers have taken to the streets protesting Chaudhry's 'unceremonious' removal. Media reports have said Chaudhry was summoned to the president's office where Musharraf and other generals grilled him for several hours before suspending him.
