Musharraf embarks on multi-nation visit

[RxPG] Islamabad, April 22 - Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf Sunday left for Warsaw on the first leg of his four-nation visit to Poland, Spain, Bosnia Herzegovina and Turkey, the state-run Pakistan Television reported.

He will be the first Pakistani head of the state to visit Poland since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1962, PTV notes in the report.

The major focus of talks during the multi-nation visits would be on further strengthening of relations in all areas, particularly, expansion of cooperation in the commercial realm, international and regional issues of mutual interest, according to a latest statement issued by the Pakistani foreign ministry.

Several bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding - covering cooperation in the fields of defence, air services, economic cooperation, culture, education, science and technology, banking sector and development of small and medium enterprises will be signed during the visit, said the statement.

Musharraf is scheduled to proceed to Turkey April 29 where Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will host talks between Musharraf and Afghan President Hamid Karzai to cool tensions over cross-border militancy in Afghanistan.
