[RxPG] Lahore, April 11 - The Pakistan cricket team will have a new captain and a coach by May 7, and the captain will be appointed 'on a series to series basis', media reports said Wednesday.

'Hopefully, the captain will be appointed on a series to series basis while the coach will be appointed on a two-year term,' Nasim Ashraf, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board -, was quoted as saying by The News.

'The ad-hoc committee was of the view that these positions be filled before the national team proceeds to Abu Dhabi to play a three-match series against Sri Lanka. The proposed series is likely to be held from May 10-15.'

Ashraf Tuesday had a discussion with the ad-hoc committee, which met for the first time after Pakistan's debacle in the World Cup. Also present were PCB chief operating officer Shafqat Nagmi and director marketing and communication Ahsan Malik.

Ashraf said the ad-hoc committee meeting could not finalise the name of the captain and coach as it did not want to act in haste.

He said the captain would be someone who could justify his place in the team based on his individual performances, meet prime fitness standards and had necessary leadership qualities.

'We will not be making any compromise on these standards,' he warned.

Ashraf said the ad-hoc committee had also abolished all the pay categories after the cancellation of players' contracts.

'One thing is clear now; from now on only those players will be part of the team who really deserve to be there and there will be no compromise on discipline as well,' he continued.

He also said that PCB would study the players' contracts of three to four cricket boards before finalising its new contract.

Ashraf said the main coaching facility of the National Cricket Academy - had been named after the Pakistan's late coach Bob Woolmer.
