By DPA,
[RxPG] Islamabad, April 26 - A Pakistani court Thursday permitted a banned non-governmental organisation, which is on the United States list of terrorist groups, to resume its countrywide operations, the private Aaj news channel said.
The court, in the port city of Karachi, ruled in favour of the al-Rashid Trust organisation when the state counsel failed to produce the official orders that debarred the group from continuing its activities and led to the closure of its 28 offices.
Authorities launched a crackdown on the trust on Feb 18, sealed its offices and prohibited it from collecting donations.
Meanwhile, the court Thursday also restored the trust's bank accounts in Pakistan that were frozen more than five years ago.
The government claimed that the subsequent steps were taken on the directives of the United Nations Sanction Committee that oversees implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
The al-Rashid Trust has denied all allegations against it and claims it is involved in welfare activities only.
