Congress celebrates four years in Himachal
Mar 6, 2007 - 6:21:14 PM

Shimla, March 6 - Even as the Congress-led Virbhadra Singh government in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday celebrated completion of four years in office, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party - accused it of corruption and failure.

The Congress organised a large rally in capital Shimla. Party workers from all across the hill state, with most workers from the rural hills accompanied by traditional hill bands, joined in the rally.

On the assembly election drubbing received by the Congress in neighbouring Punjab and Uttarakhand last week, Singh claimed these results would have no impact on the upcoming polls in the state.

'The euphoria of the election success of the Akali Dal and the BJP in Punjab and Uttarakhand will vanish soon, as the ground realities in Himachal are very different from these two states,' he added.

However, the BJP Tuesday submitted a charge sheet to state governor V.S. Kokje against the Congress' four-year 'misrule' in the state.

'The Congress government is not only utterly corrupt, but has failed on all fronts. We will take these issues soon to the public and expose this government,' said state BJP persident Jai Ram Thakur.
