Jan 16, 2009 - 4:59:36 AM
From his initial involvement with the first online communities in the 1970s, through founding one of the first personal computer training companies in the 1980s, one of the first wireless data information networks in the 1990s, and the first global angel investing platform in the 2000s, Rose has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in both business and technology.

[RxPG] HOBOKEN, N.J. - Internationally known technology expert David S. Rose will present a lecture at Stevens Institute of Technology, January 29, 2009, titled Everything You Think You Know...Is Wrong: How New Technologies and Newer Business Models are Turning the World Upside Down.

As part of the Heath Lecture Series at the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management, Rose will discuss the latest technologies and concepts that are essential for doing business in the 21st century.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., Thursday, January 29, in room 122 of the Lawrence T. Babbio, Jr. Center at Stevens Institute of Technology, corner of 6th and River Streets, Hoboken, N.J.

At a time when technological advances are fundamentally altering the way business and society function, understanding where things are going is more important than ever.

Rose, whom Businessweek heralded as a world conquering entrepreneur, sees more than 500 business plans each year from entrepreneurs, leveraging the latest technology to change the way people think about business. His insights will benefit both Stevens' students and the general public.

Rose is a technology visionary and investor who has founded or funded more than 70 pioneering companies that are helping to define the future. He is well known in the technology community for discovering and mentoring high-potential entrepreneurs who are breaking new ground in technology-enabled businesses. He is a regular speaker at Yale, Harvard, Columbia and NYU business schools, and was a founding member of the New York New Media Association.

Rose is one of the country's most active early-stage technology investors. He is the founder and Chairman of New York Angels, one of the country's leading technology investment groups; Managing Principal of Rose Tech Ventures, specializing in highly scalable, Internet-based business; and Chairman of Egret Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm.

A native New Yorker, Rose has a BA from Yale and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School, and is a graduate of the New York City public school system and Horace Mann High School. He is an Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale University, a member of the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board of Columbia Business School, and a Lifetime Professional Member of the World Future Society.
