India slip below Bangladesh in Maruti Suzuki rankings

New Delhi, May 1 - Abysmal performance in the World Cup resulted in India slipping to the ninth spot below Bangladesh in the latest Maruti Suzuki cricket ratings for one-dayers, where World Champions Australia still remain at No.1.

Australia lead the chart with 98 points and are closely followed by South Africa at the second place with 92 points. Sri Lanka, runners up in the World Cup, are third with 82 points.

World Cup semi-finalists New Zealand with 73 points are at the number four spot and England at the fifth with 62 points. West Indies - are at number six followed by Bangladesh -.

Pakistan - and India -, who suffered first round exit from the World Cup, are eighth and ninth respectively. Kenya with 14 points completes the top 10 ranking.

In the players' list no Indian features among the top-10.

Australian batsman Matthew Hayden is the No.1 batsman with 184 points and is closely followed by South African all rounder Jacques Kallis -. Australian captain Ricky Ponting is third with 176 points.

England's Kevin Pietersen - and South African opener Abraham de Villiers - are fourth and fifth respectively.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul -, Mahela Jayawardene -, Scott Styris -, Michael Clarke - and Sanath Jayasuriya - are the others in the top-10 list.

Among the bowlers, World Cup's player of the tournament Glen McGrath is the top bowler with 195 points while Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan sits pretty at number two with 188 points.

Australian Left arm seamer Nathan Bracken, after an impressive performance in the World Cup, is at the third place with 181 points and New Zealand tear away Shane Bond - is at the fourth spot.

South African Shaun Pollock is fifth with 173 points and his teammate Andrew Hall sixth with 165 points.

Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, who thrilled everyone in the World Cup with a slinging action, is at number seven with 161 points and his teammate Chaminda Vaas is at number eight with 156 points.

Bangladesh bowler, Mashrafe Mortaza - and Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait - are also in the top-10 bowlers' list.
