Sri Lankan Navy, Tamil rebels clash at sea

The Sri Lankan Air Force in aerial bombardments had destroyed the sea wing headquarters of the LTTE in their controlled territory Wednesday, the military said.

[RxPG] Colombo, April 6 - The Sri Lankan Navy Friday said it had destroyed a Tamil Tiger rebel sea wing suicide boat off the north western coast while the navy's gun boats chased four other boats.
Navy spokesman Commander D.K.P. Dassanayake said the attack took place at around 11 a.m. - off the coast of Batthalangunduwa in Kalpitiya.
A water jet craft of the navy suffered a minor damage in the clash, Dassanayake said. One sailor was injured while the rebel casualty figures were not known.
He believed that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam - sea Tiger boats were on the way to attack the navy's fast attack craft doing paroling in the area.
