[RxPG] Colombo, April 26 - Air force fighter bombers have bombed a Tamil Tiger position in northern Sri Lanka, defence officials said here Thursday.
The air force jets bombed a position east of Kilinochchi, a town held by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam - in Northern Province, at 8 a.m. -, an official at the Media Centre for National Security said.
The targeted location was a point where the LTTE leadership usually meets and the damage caused to the Tigers was not yet known, an official said.
The Sri Lankan Air Force regularly pounds Tamil Tiger positions in the north and east, an exercise necessary to weaken the LTTE's striking capability against the troops, according to officials.
The LTTE, on their part, have carried out two separate air raids on troop positions.
In March, they dropped two bombs at the main air base in Colombo and targeted the main air base in the northern Jaffna peninsula Tuesday.
