[RxPG] Port of spain -, March 26 - Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar is elated over his team's entry into the second round of the cricket World Cup.
Bangladesh beat Bermuda by seven wickets Sunday and ended Group B with fours points, through their upset victory over India and win over Bermuda at the Queen's Park Oval.
'We played well in the preliminaries but we will have to step up a gear for the next stage. The guys know what to expect in the next round of matches,' Bashar said.
They will join Sri Lanka as the co-qualifiers from the group. The Sri Lankans remained unbeaten in the group.
Bangladesh sealed their place for the next stage of the tournament with the win over Bermuda Sunday, in a contest that was marred by rain and four stoppages caused by the inclement weather.
Bashar said he always knew that his charges had the ability to move on in the series.
'I always knew that in one-day cricket anything could happen on a given day. I know that if we played to our true ability we can beat India and Sri Lanka and it comes as no surprise to us being among the final eight teams.
Bashar also warned more fancied teams that Bangladesh would be aiming at semi-finals.
Dav Whatmore, the Bangladesh coach, said that it was the most difficult scenario for his team against Bermuda with the overcast conditions.

Bangladesh play their first second-round, or Super Eight, game against reigning champions Australia in Antigua Saturday.
