[RxPG] Mysore, April 8 - Infosys non-executive chairman and chief mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy Sunday wished President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam would continue in office for another term.

'I wish Kalam continues to be president. He is extraordinary. It is rare to have a president of his calibre. He can connect with any audience,' Murthy told reporters after Kalam's visit to the company's sprawling campus here to interact with its trainees.

Though many heads of state, presidents and prime ministers had visited the Infosys campus in Bangalore, about 140 km from here, Murthy said Kalam's visit, the first by an Indian president, was special as he had made a lasting impression on the young Infoscians.

'We are delighted to have the president here. When we learnt of his short trip to Mysore, we have invited him to visit our campus and interact with the trainees, numbering about 2,800. As he too was keen to meet them, it was an honour and pleasure to take him around,' Murthy said.

Interestingly, during the interaction with the trainees Kalam said it would be 'fantastic' if Murthy became the president. Murthy, however, declined to comment and said the question of his becoming president was 'hypothetical'.

'Nobody can say what will happen in the future. My sentiment is that he - should continue as president for another term,' Murthy quipped.

On Kalam's interaction with 1.5 million youth during his five-year-long presidential tenure, Murthy said Kalam had the ability to influence the youth as nobody else could.

'Our youth get an electrifying experience when they meet Kalam. He can blend with the youth like nobody does,' Murthy added.
