RIL makes presentation to Kamal Nath on SEZs

The government came out with the SEZ policy on April 5 after an empowered group of ministers reviewed the act and limited the size of a SEZ to 5,000 hectares.

[RxPG] New Delhi, May 7 - Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Industries Ltd. - Monday met Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath and other senior officials of the ministry to apprise them about its two Special Economic Zones.
RIL was represented by Anand Jain, director of RIL and Group SEZ head, along with other senior members.
'They just made a presentation giving details regarding the size of their SEZs. They have given a similar presentation to the Empowered Group of Ministers and also to Mr.Pranab Mukherjee who is heading it,' Commerce Secretary G.K. Pillai told IANS after the meeting.
'We have not yet taken a decision on this,' he added.
The government came out with the SEZ policy on April 5 after an empowered group of ministers reviewed the act and limited the size of a SEZ to 5,000 hectares.
This decision has wreaked havoc on Reliance Industries' plans to set two mega SEZs in Navi Mumbai and Haryana that are 10,000 hectares each.
