Reliance Communications bags West Bengal's e-governance project

'The signing of MoU with West Bengal Government is a leap forward in RCOM's endeavour to enter the eGovernance space and bridge the digital divide by providing world class ICT services in rural India,' Prakash Bajpai, CEO, Enterprise Business, RCOM said in a statement.

[RxPG] New Delhi, May 9 - Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications - Wednesday acquired an e-governance project from the government of West Bengal for providing rural connectivity in its villages.

According to an agreement signed between RCOM and the West Bengal government, RCOM will set up 1,860 common service centres - across the state.

The project will also involve participation of Anil Ambani's other companies to offer innovative products and services in the fields of finance, healthcare, education, training, capacity building, entertainment and energy.

'The signing of MoU with West Bengal Government is a leap forward in RCOM's endeavour to enter the eGovernance space and bridge the digital divide by providing world class ICT services in rural India,' Prakash Bajpai, CEO, Enterprise Business, RCOM said in a statement.

'We are glad that the Government of West Bengal has chosen RCOM to partner them in the CSC project aimed at upliftment of rural productivity and prosperity', he added.
