[RxPG] New Delhi, March 22 - Designer Shantanu Goenka's fall-winter collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week here Thursday was inspired by the Audrey Hepburn film 'My Fair Lady' and its original - Bernard Shaw's novel 'Pygmalion'.
With the ramp lit up by street lamps and ringing with the songs of 'My Fair Lady', the ambience was redolent of a 60s garden in Britain, while the audience witnessed the transition of many an Elisa Dolittle into a lady.
'The inspiration of my collection comes from Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion' and the movie 'My Fair Lady'. I have tried to create the surroundings of the 1960s' Covent Garden of Britain to tell the saga of the transition of a flower girl into a princess,' Goenka told IANS.
The colours he chose for his mystic collection were a melange of muddy blues, foliage inspired greens, cafe au lait, sunset oranges and purple anemones. Accents of gold, mahogany and Carmen pinks have also been used.
'The collection marks the use of colours like shades of brown and beige with butterfly impressions, and feminine floral prints in shades of pink and mauves add to the femininity,' he said.

'The domination of the retro look is distinct in the designs as the inspiration is from the 60s era. I have used nearly 12-15 fabrics and applied techniques of texturing, stretching, layering and crochet work. Silhouettes and prints are the main attractions of my collection that targets European buyers,' Goenka added.
