[RxPG] Baghdad, April 13 - At least five people, including an Iraqi soldier, were killed and up to 13 wounded Friday in separate violent incidents in different areas south of the Baghdad, a police source said.
'A fierce clash broke out between insurgents and a joint patrol of US and Iraqi forces in the Jurf al-Sakher village, 65 km south of Baghdad overnight, killing four insurgents,' the source said.
Early Friday, a roadside bomb detonated when an Iraqi army patrol was passing by in central Hilla City, some 100 km south of Baghdad, killing a soldier and injuring three others, the source said.

Since Feb 14, US and Iraqi forces have launched a security crackdown in Baghdad, which has curbed some sectarian attacks and assassinations in the capital but failed to stamp out the violence in the areas outside Baghdad.
