[RxPG] New Delhi, Nov 23 - The Bharatiya Janata Party - Thursday criticised the United Progressive Alliance - government for not supporting its move to bring a parliament resolution reiterating Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.
'I don't know why the government is reluctant to bring a resolution and get it passed in the parliament,' Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani said.
'The government seems to have buckled under the pressure of the Left parties on this issue but the BJP will continue to press for such a resolution,' he told reporters.
Advani said he brought up this issue during his meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao Wednesday. Hu met Advani during his four-day visit to India that ended Thursday.
A few days before Hu's visit, Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi's remarks claiming Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of China had created a furore in Indian political circles.
'In our position the whole of the state of Arunachal Pradesh is Chinese territory. And Tawang is only one of the places in it. We are claiming all of that. That is our position,' Sun had told a television channel.
