Be pragmatic about globalisation, Hu advises Left

[RxPG] New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) Chinese President Hu Jintao is said to have advised the Left parties in India to be pragmatic and positive to globalisation to make use of the immense possibility it provides for economic prosperity.
According to the Left leaders who had a half-an-hour meeting with the visiting president, they were advised to take more active role to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
'He said the Left parties should influence (wherever they are in power and have crucial role) to strengthen the cooperation - be it in trade, culture and strategic relations - between India and China,' a Left leader, who was a member of the six-member combined Left party delegation, told IANS on condition of anonymity.
Hu is in India for a four-day visit beginning Monday.
The Chinese president told the leaders that they should be aware of the numerous possibilities of globalisation.
'He said globalisation provides scope for economic prosperity, so we should adopt a pragmatic and positive approach to develop infrastructure and enhance the people's welfare programmes,' the leader said.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Front, which supports the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh government, has been severely opposing his government's free market policies.
Hu also said there should be more interaction between the Communist Party of China and Indian Left parties to facilitate stronger ties between the neighbours.

'We have also asked the Chinese president to share their achievements in agriculture sector to support India. We suggested there could be expert groups to exchange ideas for it,' the leader said.
