[RxPG] Ghaziabad, April 20 - The body of 12-year-old Aas Mohammed was found by sanitation workers inside a sewer tank here Friday, three days after he had fallen into the pit left open by civic authorities.
According to Uttar Pradesh Police, Aas Mohammed's body was found at Pratap Nagar, nearly a kilometre away from Islam Nagar where he had fallen into the 12 ft deep tank while playing cricket with friends Tuesday.
'Since it was one of the main sewer lines, the force of the water rolled him one km down Islam Nagar,' a police official said.
Residents in Ghaziabad, on the outskirts of the Indian capital, have been furious and have come out on the streets to protest, blocking traffic and damaging several buses.
Police and civic authorities had launched a massive hunt and later called in the army. Despite all efforts, rescuers had called off the operation after 35 hours.
In a similar incident last year, the army had rescued a five-year-old boy called Prince from a 60-ft deep pit in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
