[RxPG] Lucknow, May 16 - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Wednesday disappointed the kin of some victims of the gruesome Nithari serial killings as she rejected their demand to transfer the probe from the Central Bureau of Investigation - to the state police.
A group of 18 relatives of some of the 19 children and young women who were sexually assaulted and murdered in Nithari village touching Noida met the new chief minister after the CBI charge sheet had absolved accused businessman Moninder Singh Pandher of more serious crimes of rape and murder.
'Mayawati told us that she can neither ask the CBI to include Pandher's name in the charge sheet nor direct the investigating agency to handover the case to state police as she is herself facing a CBI probe in the Taj Corridor case,' Ram Kishan, one of the victim's father, told IANS.
'She suggested that we should approach the court for our demands,' he added.
According to an official spokesperson, Mayawati expressed her inability to do anything in the matter since the CBI was already entrusted with the case but she promised to honour the compensation package promised by the previous regime to the next of kin of the victims.
'She promised that she would direct the district magistrate for an early allotment of the land promised to us,' said Durga Prasad, father of a five-year-old victim.

The macabre Nithari killings came to light Dec 29 with the recovery of skeletal remains of four women and 15 children from a drain behind the Noida Sector 31 bungalow house of Pandher.
