[RxPG] New Delhi, Nov 24 - Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy Friday assured that Delhi Master Plan - 2021 envisages urbanisation of additional area and private sector participation in infrastructure development.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Reddy said the draft master plan envisages inter-alia urbanisation of additional area, augmentation of housing stock and commercial space and private sector participation in land development.

It ensures redevelopment of planned and unplanned urban areas, development of greens, conservation of natural and cultural heritage and also incorporates prospective plan in respect of power, water supply and sewerage.

'With a view to taking care of the problems experienced by the citizens arising out of commercialisation of residential premises and unauthorised constriction, the central government has modified the MPD 2001,' the minister said in the house.

The revised provisions also provide for regularisation of existing unauthorised constructions and registration of mixed use of premises subject to certain norms and payment of various charges, he added.

Reddy said the government has also set up committees to look into other outstanding issues related to unauthorised development in the form of farm houses, unauthorised colonies inhabited by affluent sections, integration of Lal Dora - areas and addition and alteration in the group housing buildings.

In another written reply, Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken said that MPD 2021 envisages development of housing and slum rehabilitation by both public and private agencies.

He said that the Delhi Development Authority has formulated preliminary guidelines for the implementation of a pilot project with the involvement of private sector.
