[RxPG] New Delhi, Dec 14 - A photojournalist was roughed up by a Delhi Police official Thursday and his camera smashed while he was taking pictures of the general strike called by Airports Authority of India - staff.
B.B. Chaudhary, assistant commissioner of police posted at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, manhandled Kamal Singh of the Press Trust of India -. He snatched Singh's camera and smashed it on the road.
Singh has filed a written complaint against Chaudhary at the Indira Gandhi International Airport police station. He said in his complaint that the police official had also threatened him with dire consequences.
'We have come to know of the incident and we will take appropriate action,' said K.K. Paul, police commissioner, Delhi.
Taking note of the police highhandedness, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has stepped in to look into the matter. It is preparing a separate report on the incident, which would be sent to higher ups in the civil aviation ministry.
Meanwhile, the Left backed strike in Delhi failed to affect the flight schedule in a major way.
'A majority of flights baring a few to Kolkata were on schedule. As the fog situation was not bad this morning, everything is normal at the airport,' said Anirudh Chatterjee, spokesperson of the Delhi International Airport Limited -.

Indian Airlines had suspended its flights to Kolkata in the wake of the strike. 'However, three flights, including one of Spicejet, operated between Delhi and Kolkata today,' he added.
